It's hard to overestimate the role of a coach. We take it very serious about hiring a new member of our team. And we are truly proud to say that every member of our staff has exceptional personality and coaching skills such as:

Coach Denis C
DC Way was founded by Denis Chekuristov in 2013.
Denis comes from a long tradition of soccer. His father, a professional player, started teaching Denis soccer as soon as he could walk. He also comes from a tradition of education. His mother has taught school for over 25 years.
Denis went through Volgar Gazprom FC youth academy system, played successfully on the collegiate level, was one of the first people playing futsal in his city Astrakhan, Russia.
Denis holds a National Soccer Coaching License for ages 8-12 years old and Coerver Coaching Youth Diploma. He regularly attends seminars to improve his coaching skills.
Since December 2011, Denis has been leading the soccer program at Sidwell Friends School including camps and clinics during school breaks.
Denis ran U7/U8 Development Academy at Capital Futbol Club and coached two U9 and U10 travel teams as well from 2013 till 2015.
In 2013 Denis C and DC Way started the after school program in SWS on Capitol Hill
In 2015 Denis C and DC Way started to work with multiple day cares throughout DC area providing quality soccer programs for little ones.
Since 2015 Denis C worked with Soccer On The Hill helping kids to improve their technical skills.
Denis C was voted the best sports coach of the 2016 and 2017 by City Paper.
Starting 2017, Denis C is in charge of the CFC U7/U8 Development Academy
Coach Celeste Buss
Celeste is a soccer player and coach with over 10 years of experience. Celeste played high school soccer at South High Soccer Club for 4 years and also played at Minneapolis United Soccer Club from 2000 till 2014. Celeste has a genuine love and appreciation for the game of soccer; but more importantly, she is dedicated to her students! This will be Celeste's second year coaching at DC Way
Coach Ivan Ptichkin
Coach Ivan has played soccer since he was 4 and loved it since day one.
Ivan joined DC Way Team in 2016 with the goal of using the fun game of soccer to introduce children to sports, teach them necessary skills like positive attitude, enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship.
Ivan grew up in Russia where he went on to graduate from The Lesgaft National State University of Physical Education, Sport and Health in St. Petersburg. He played in famous clubs like FC Zenit-2, FK Sortavala, Warkaus JK , FC Prespa, FC Fakel. Ivan has extensive teaching and coaching experience as a varsity soccer coach for ten years. Ivan believes the most important part about soccer is having fun while also developing as a person and as a player
Coach Matthew Gillich
Coach Matthew loves working with kids! Developing a thirst for knowledge at a young age, Matthew soon discovered a passion for teaching and spreading knowledge. He has an obsession with being better than he was the day before and brings that drive and energy to every soccer session!
Besides his love of soccer and having a USSF National ‘E’ Coaching License he also received a Bachelors Degree of Music Education from West Virginia Wesleyan College & currently providing musical instruction at Kingsman Academy.
Coach Antonio Mazza
Coach Antonio is a special Education Inclusion Teacher in DC Bilingual Public Charter School. He grew up playing soccer through high school and into college. He is very passionate about both playing and coaching soccer and he wants to share his love for sports with younger players! He has coached soccer since 2014 and he has now been a coach of DC Way for almost a year.
