Coach Denis C
DC Way was founded by Denis Chekuristov in 2013.
Denis comes from a long tradition of soccer. His father, a professional player, started teaching Denis soccer as soon as he could walk. He also comes from a tradition of education. His mother has taught school for over 25 years.
Denis went through Volgar Gazprom FC youth academy system, played successfully on the collegiate level, was one of the first people playing futsal in his city Astrakhan, Russia.
He holds a National Soccer Coaching License for ages 8-12 years old and Coerver Coaching Youth Diploma. He regularly attends seminars to improve his coaching skills.
Since December 2011, Denis has been leading the soccer program at Sidwell Friends School including camps and clinics during school breaks.
Denis ran U7/U8 Development Academy at Capital Futbol Club and coached two U9 and U10 travel teams as well from 2013 till 2015.
In 2013 Denis C and DC Way started the after school program in SWS on Capitol Hill
In 2015 Denis C and DC Way started to work with multiple day cares throughout DC area providing quality soccer programs for little ones.
Since 2015 Denis C worked with Soccer On The Hill helping kids to improve their technical skills.
Denis C was voted the best sports coach of the 2016 and 2017 by City Paper.
Starting 2017, Denis C is in charge of the CFC U7/U8 Development Academy
Juan David Cortés
Juan performed youth program coordinator duties at CASA Community Center for over 2 years where he designed and implemented leadership development at the intersection of art, culture, activism and social justice involving 50+ high school and college students, developed community responsive summer programming for youth. From August 2017 Juan worked as athletic coach and academics educator at local High School. He also led training sessions for boys soccer. He is passionate in social studies, math and English.
Coach Matthew Gillich
After School Program Coordinator
Coach Matthew loves working with kids! Developing a thirst for knowledge at a young age, Matthew soon discovered a passion for teaching and spreading knowledge. He has an obsession with being better than he was the day before and brings that drive and energy to every soccer session!
Besides his love of soccer and having a USSF National ‘E’ Coaching License he also received a Bachelors Degree of Music Education from West Virginia Wesleyan College & currently providing musical instruction at Kingsman Academy.
Chief Executive Officer
Roman fell in love with a game of soccer when he was a child and he believes it played a huge role in his life. He was more than happy to join DC Way Team in 2017 and bring his extensive experience in finance and project management. His skills help DC Way be successful in multiple projects and have all day to day operations under control.
Caroline is a graduate of George Mason University holding a Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Studies with a concentration in Advertising and a Masters in Science in Management. She has an extensive background in marketing having previously worked as a Marketing intern for both Studio Center and Customer Value Partners (CVP). Caroline also enjoys volunteering being a member of Alpha Phi Omega and a past Marketing Chair for George Mason University's Relay for Life. Caroline is passionate about bringing the best out of DC Way through copywriting, video production, and her graphic design skills!
Veronika has extensive knowledge in finances and a degree in Business Administration. She has occupied leading positions in the field of hospitality and banking. In her spare time Veronika dedicates a lot of time to volunteer activities in the DMV area and participates in fundraisers for sport and recreation grants for local youth. She has exceptional communication and strong organizational skills that helps her to find common language with both kids & parents side as well as her teammates and effectively coordinate everyday coaching duties. Her favorite quote is by Olympic gold medalist and FIFA champion Mia Hamm : “Soccer must be played with the heart, not with strength and talent as perceived”. Veronika believes everything approached with love and passion will succeed.
Abdoul Aziz Diakite
Abdoul is highly experienced in coaching and mentoring.
He coached the Lower School and Freshman soccer teams during the 2017 season in local DC schools and Camps. Developed unique drills and skills challenges to help kids develop their soccer skills.
Abdoul also fluent in French. He spend over 5 years in Nepean Hotspurs Soccer Club in Ottawa, Canada, coaching youth teams. There he obtained Soccer for Life coaching credentials from Canadian Soccer Association.
